When Evie's summer break officially kicked in, I was somewhat panicked. Anyone who knows my sweet little girl knows that she has a lot of energy. I'm talking a roadrunner all jacked up on Red Bull and Pixie Sticks energy. Simply put, I do not have that kind of energy. I'm more of a melt into the recliner with a pint of Ben and Jerry's Fudge Brownie while watching Real Housewives (pick a season, any season) kind of gal. I was worried Evie would be ridiculously bored while I was taking care of her sister, which basically consists of us playing on the living room floor with different color blocks while Everly repeatedly tries to escape the room. Also, making sure she doesn't smack her head on the floor now that she's pulling up on EVERYTHINGOHEMGEE!!.
I'm happy to report that my fears were unfounded. We are keeping busy, people! So far Evie has played with some friends and we even went to the aquarium. She seems to not hate life as much as she did two weeks ago when she first graduated from Pre-K. MOM, I'M SOOOOOOOOO BOOORREEEDDD! I know you're bored. Go outside and play. I don't want to go outside and play! Ok, well what would you like to do? Watch My Little Pony. Evie, you're not watching My Little Pony right now. Maybe later, ok? **complete meltdown ensues** You're making everything worserrrrr! You always say no to meeeee! I'm going to my rooommmmm! **runs to room and slams door vigorously**
Fingers crossed we're able to keep our busy and fun momentum going. Two more months may not seem like a lot of time to some of you folks, but trust me, it is. When you have a 5 year old eating you out of house and home, demanding you pay attention to her sweet dance moves, and getting several outfits a day absolutely filthy, two months of summer vacay can feel like an eternity. But, so far, we're kicking ass and taking names. Any takers for a playdate? We'll bring the goldfish crackers and juicy juice.
